Board members and Staff of local community group Castleblayney Community Enterprise which included Directors Sean Mc Donald, Aidan Campbell and Manager Tommy Mc Guire went on a 2-day Job Shadowing visit to the French town of Marseillan as part an Erasmus+ Adult Education Programme. The visit was organised to examine Adult Education delivery in Marseillan Ville and to explore opportunities under the Erasmus+ Programme for future exchanges under the European Programme. Castleblayney is officially twinned with the town of Marseillan since 2014.

The group of 3 travelled out on Tuesday 14th April under the guidance of Laetitia Hadji who has responsibility for international projects on behalf of Marseillan Town Council. The group were received on arrival by Deputy Mayor Walter Bignon and later to a Civic Reception hosted by newly re-elected Mayor Yves Michel.  Their visit included exchanges with staff relating to activities of non formal learning in Adult Education which are supported and directed through Marseillan Town Council.

The group also met with Remi Pecheral who delivers IT Training to seniors in Marseillan. Other visits included a presentation from the AMEA Association who meet weekly to participate in clay modelling workshops and also a visit to the MJC Centre who conduct various activities related to Adult Education.

Their visit also included guided visits to cultural heritage buildings a walk through Marseillan Old Town which is steeped in history and an important part of the fabric of Marseillan Ville.

Castleblayney Community Enterprise hope to continue their links with the French town under the Erasmus+ Programme.
